Arabella, which could be a variant of Annabel, is believed to be derived from the Latin word orabilis, meaning "yielding to prayer." It can also refer to the ancient name of the city of Irbid in Jordan, which used to be called Arabella or Arbela. It didn't catch on in the U.S. until 2005, but has been a top 250 girl's name every year since 2012 and was given to more than 1,300 baby girls in 2023. It's the name singer-songwriter Peter Andre chose for his daughter, born in 2024, as well as the name of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's daughter, born in 2011.
