Arya, a potential variant of Aria, comes from an old Indo-Iranian root meaning "noble," but most parents today link it to Arya Stark from "Game of Thrones." Author George R.R. Martin created the character for his 1996 book "A Song of Ice and Fire," which was later adapted into one of the most popular TV shows of all-time. The name first appeared in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 in 2010, but the premiere of "Game of Thrones" in 2011 took the name to new heights and it has now appeared inside the top 150 every year since 2017.
