The name Asher is derived from the Hebrew word ashar, meaning "happy" or "blessed." In the Bible, Asher was the eighth son of Jacob and the founder of the Israelite Tribe of Asher. It's also the name "American Idol" runner-up Justin Guarini gave his son, born in 2020, and the name of musician Shay Mooney's eldest son, whom he shares with his wife Hannah. Asher first appeared in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 in 1983, but has made a lot of parents "happy" since then.
