Elizabeth, the Greek form of the name Elisheva, is derived from the Hebrew elements el, meaning "God," and shava, meaning "oath." Together, it translates to "oath to God" or "my God is an oath." In the Bible, Elizabeth is the wife of Aaron (Old Testament) and mother of John the Baptist (New Testament). It's one of the few names to be included in the Social Security Administration's top-30 every year since 1900 and has spent a lot of those years in the top-10. Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, welcomed a daughter named Athena Elizabeth Rose, a nod to Beatrice's late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
