Gracie, a diminutive of Grace, is derived from the Latin word gratia and English word grace, which Merriam-Webster defines as "unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification." Gracie was listed in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names every year between 1900 and 1970. It returned to the list towards the end of the century and entered the top-100 for the first time in 2005. Though not as popular today, it's still a top-250 girl's name and was given to more than 1,200 baby girls in 2023. It's also the name "My Fair Wedding" host David Tutera gave his daughter Gracie Stella, born in 2019.
