The name Lilah is either a variant of Leila and Layla, meaning "night" in Persian, or the flower name Lily, which comes from the Latin word lilium. It appeared on the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names in 1901, 1903 and 1913 before becoming commonplace in the United States in the 2000s. Lilah cracked the top-300 for the first time in 2016 and debuted inside the top-200 in 2023. It's more common than Laila, Leila, Lia, Lila and Lilia, and was the name "ER" alum Linda Cardellini chose for her daughter Lilah-Rose, born in 2012. "Little People, Big World" stars Tori and Zach Roloff also have a daughter named Lilah Ray, born in 2019.
