“A smile is better than any lipstick you’ll buy.”
Ben Affleck is used to getting roasted by his children — but he finally got a break from the criticism.
The 52-year-old actor was promoting his newest film “The Accountant 2” during an April 23 appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” when he was asked what his kids thought of the movie.
And while they did, in fact, enjoy the film, Affleck admits that he’s not always that lucky.

“They’re like, very tough. And they don’t censor their criticism,” Affleck said of his three kids Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13 — all of whom he shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
“They’ll sit right next to me watching a movie and while it’s happening [say], ‘This is terrible. I mean, this is terrible. Why did you do this?’” he explained.
But luckily for Affleck, that didn’t happen with his newest film.
While he admits it was “a little scary” having his kids (and step kids) at the April 16 premiere of the sequel, he was ultimately “excited that they wanted to come see it” and even more excited that they enjoyed it.
“You really liked it?” Affleck recalled asking his kids out of disbelief.
“They were like, ‘Yeah, it was good.’ And they were shocked,” Affleck continued. “As if I got lucky, like this magical accident happened and something I did was okay.”

Kimmel then asked Affleck if there were any movies his kids didn’t like — and there was one, in particular.
“During COVID, all the kids were around the house and I was like, ‘Hey, let’s watch a movie!’” Affleck recalled. “And I thought, ‘Oh, maybe the kids will like Armageddon.”
Affleck was cast as A.J. Frost in “Armageddon,” which was released in 1998.
“Almost immediately, it was like, ‘What? What is this? This is so stupid! Are you kidding me?’” Affleck said of his kids’ reaction. “My son was like, ‘This doesn’t make sense.’”
“I was like, ‘This was not a logic-based film. That is not one of the criteria we used making this,” he joked.
Affleck reveals the one show his son ‘really likes’

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight while walking the red carpet at the April 16 premiere of “The Accountant 2,” Affleck was asked about a scene where he’s line dancing in a pair of orthopedic sneakers.
It was one of the few scenes in the film that Affleck’s kids ridiculed him over.
“They already give me so much s***,” Affleck told ET of the scene. “My son just wants to see the dad from ‘Invincible,’ you know what I mean? That’s all he cares about.”
“But that’s part of what being a teenager is, I guess,” he added. “Maybe it’ll wear off by the time they get to their 20s.”
While talking to Kimmel on April 23, Affleck again brought up his son’s love for “Invincible,” a TV show released in 2021.
“Dad, you know Omniman?!” he recalls his son asking — referring to the character voiced by J.K. Simmons, who was also cast in “The Accountant 2.”
“He always looks at it like, ‘How do you YOU know someone cool?” Affleck added.
Affleck shared a similar sentiment while talking to E! News at the April 16 premiere.
“My son loves everybody but he’s shocked that I somehow know people he thinks are cool,” Affleck said in the interview.
“He’s like, ‘Why do these people want to hang out with my dad?’ Which may be a valid question but I’m getting away with it,” he continued.
Nonetheless, Affleck said he received some “high praise” from his son, who described “The Accountant 2” as his “favorite movie” his father ever made.

“That was high praise which doesn’t come easy from your kids,” he added. “If I get one positive review from my kids I stick with it — quit while I’m ahead.”
