“That is terrible.”
Kristin Cavallari is opening up about the “best decision” she ever made.
In an exclusive interview with People, published June 2, the 38-year-old “Laguna Beach” alum talked about her decision to cut her father, Dennis Cavallari, out of her life after an incident involving her kids.
While she admits it “might sound messed up to some people,” Kristin Cavallari says she has no regrets.

“It's the best decision I've ever made, cutting my dad out of my life. Such a weight has been lifted from me," she told People. "There's not one day where I miss him.”
Kristin Cavallari goes on to estimate that she made the decision “two or three years ago.”
“It was 35 years of buildup to that point,” she said, describing the decision as “something that (she) had been wanting to do for a long time.”
The Uncommon James founder declined to elaborate on why she wants nothing to do with her father, but the fallout peaked when he “crossed the boundary” with her kids and “couldn’t even apologize.”
In her interview with People, Kristin Cavallari offered advice to anyone experiencing something similar.
"If someone's not bringing you joy, if people are only bringing you hurt and sadness and anger, what is the point?” she told the outlet. “Even if it's a parent, life's too short."
Kristin Cavallari’s comments come five months after she called her father a “narcissist” on Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast.
The mother of three, who also hosts her own podcast, “Let’s Be Honest,” told Bunnie Xo that she resorted to “drinking and doing drugs” as an escape from her tumultuous relationship with her father growing up.
She went on to describe her relationship with her father as “complicated” and “disgusting,” per People.
“I actually cut my dad out of my life a couple years ago, which is the best thing I've ever done, quite honestly,” she said at the time — echoing her comments made to People.

Kristin Cavallari has overcome a series of changes in her life over the past five years.
The reality TV star shares three kids — sons Camden Jack, 12, and Jaxon Wyatt, 11, and daughter Saylor James, 9 — with her ex-husband and former NFL quarterback, Jay Cutler.
The former couple, who started dating in 2010 and tied the knot in 2013, announced their separation in 2020 before finalizing their divorce two years later, per Us Weekly.
In her June 2 interview with People, Kristin Cavallari credited those two major life events for helping her “take a hard look in the mirror” and pushing her to work on herself.
"I had to get very real with myself about the lack of self-love that I had, and I had to find self-love and build myself up again,” she told the outlet.
“I finally, for the first time in my life, do love myself. I love my life. I've really worked hard to cultivate this peace and this happiness,” she added.
And it comes at the perfect time as she makes her return to reality TV in just a few days.
Her new reality series, “Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour,” will air on E! and premiere on June 4 at 10 p.m. EST. The show will also be available for streaming on Peacock.
It’s her first appearance on reality TV since her “Very Cavallari” series ended in 2020.
"I know I've said a thousand times that I would never go back to reality TV," she told People.
"This worked out really well for me because I was already going on a podcast tour, and so I just thought, if cameras want to come along, I'm already doing it,” she said of the opportunity.

“It just really kind of naturally fit into my life,” she added.
