National Movie Night is Friday, June 13th — and everyone in the family is invited!
Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton is speaking out for the first time since her arrest.
Retton was arrested on May 17. West Virginia police were notified of a Porsche driving “all over the roadway,” People reports.
According to court documents obtained by WDTV, Retton was later found in her car in an AutoZone parking lot with a screw-top bottle of wine in the passenger seat.
Following a field sobriety test, the 57-year-old was arrested on one count of "driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or drugs; penalties,” according to People.
Now in a statement shared through her lawyer with People, Retton said she takes “full responsibility for my actions. What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry."
“I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life. I truly appreciate your concern, encouragement and continued support.”
On Tuesday, June 10, Retton appeared in court, entering “a no contest plea to a non-aggravated DUI charge,” People reported, receiving a $100 fine.
Retton has since asked “for privacy as she moves forward with her personal and professional life."
