Justin Bieber drops first album in 4 years with subtle nods to wife, baby Jack

Ryan Brennan | July 12, 2025

Justin Bieber had quite the surprise for his fans ahead of the weekend.

The 31-year-old singer released his seventh studio album, “Swag,” on Friday, July 11 — his first album since “Justice” in 2021 and his first since becoming a father to son Jack Blues in 2024.

Justin Bieber started teasing the album’s cover on Instagram and billboards around the world on July 10.

The release comes after months, and years, of rumors suggesting that Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber, are on the verge of a divorce — despite the couple repeatedly denouncing such rumors.

On his new album, Justin Bieber set the record straight about his marriage.

"Baby, I ain’t walking away / You were my diamond, gave you a ring / I made you a promise, I told you, I’d change / It’s just human nature, these growing pains,” he sang on his new track “Walking Away.”

Justin Bieber further opens up about those “growing pains” elsewhere on the track.

“Days go by so fast, don't wanna spend them with you / so tell me why you're throwing stones at my back / You know I'm defenseless,” he sings.

“And, girl, we better stop before we say some s--- / We've been testing our patience /  I think we’re better off if we just take a break / And remember what grace is,” he continues.

Justin and Hailey Bieber first met in 2009 before easing into a relationship over the course of 2014 and 2015. They briefly split in 2016 before reconnecting in 2018, per People

They confirmed their engagement in July 2018 and tied the knot later that year in a civil ceremony.

Despite the ongoing rumors, the couple renewed their vows in May 2024 and welcomed their first child — a son named Jack Blues — three months later.

In his new song “Daisies,” Justin Bieber appears to sing about a rough patch in his marriage.

“Throwin' petals like, Do you love me or not? Head is spinnin', and it don't know when to stop. You said ‘Forever,’ babe, did you mean it, or not? Hold on, hold on,” he sings in the first verse.

As the verse continues, he sings about coming to an understanding:

“You leave me on read, babe, but I still get the message / Instead of a line, it's three dots, but I can connect them / And if it ain't right, babe, you know I respect it / But if you need time, just take your time / Honey, I get it, I get it, I get it.”

Justin Bieber also gave an apparent nod to his wife at the beginning of his song, “Go Baby.”

“That’s my baby, she’s iconic / iPhone case, lip gloss on it,” he sings on the track.

Justin Bieber finally releases song from pregnancy reveal

On July 10, fans started to connect the dots that an album was on its way.

Justin Bieber took to Instagram to share a series of photos of billboards from around the world promoting a new project called “Swag” alongside a black-and-white photo of the singer, his wife and his baby.

One billboard featured a photo of Justin Bieber holding Jack Blues over his head alongside what we can now confirm was a track list.

Hailey Bieber joined in on the surprise with a snarky comment of her own on her Instagram Stories.

“Is it finally clocking to you f****** losers?” she wrote alongside a photo of one of the billboards, per Billboard

Once the album dropped, it didn’t take long for fans to connect even more dots.

“The way I cried when I heard Devotion and instantly realized it was the song from the video with which Justin and Hailey announced their pregnancy,” one fan wrote in an X post on July 10.

Devotion,” which features Dijon, is the 12th track on the new album.

Hailey and Justin Bieber announced that they were expecting their first baby in a May 9 Instagram post that showed off Hailey Bieber’s baby bump.

At the time, fans had no idea what song was playing in the background — but we now know that it was “Devotion,” meaning Justin Bieber has been working on his album for quite some time.

According to People, Justin Bieber wanted his new album to be “darker” and “more vulnerable” than his past music.
