"I'm thankful to be able to have three and be the best dad that I can be. It's the best title you have in this life.”
On Monday, Aug. 18, Jana Duggar took to Instagram to share a surprise announcement.
Just days after celebrating her one-year marriage anniversary with her husband Stephen Wissman, Duggar, 35, revealed that they are expecting.
Alongside a handful of photos of her burgeoning baby bump, Duggar wrote, “We are so excited.”
“January 2026 is going to come with a little bundle of joy joining our family,” she continued. “We’re counting down the days and eagerly looking forward to this thrilling new chapter in our lives!”
Wissman, 33, and Duggar married on August 15, 2024 after being longtime friends. “I prayed for this for years,” Duggar told People shortly after their 500-guest wedding held in Arkansas.
Duggar and Wissman initially met as teenagers. “I remember them coming to our home, probably 13 or so years ago and they ended up getting snowed-in here,” Duggar once recalled to People, “which hardly ever happens in Arkansas.”
“I remember just playing games late into the night, doing puzzles together until the snow melted off, and they were able to travel back home. I don’t really remember Stephen that well because I’m older than him and so he was not at all on my radar.”
Eventually over time, Duggar and Wissman dated before initially calling off their relationship, People reported. But the Duggars stayed well connected to the Wissman family.
Duggar’s younger brother Jeremiah Duggar married Wissman’s sister, Hannah, in 2022.
Two year later, in 2024, months before their August wedding, Duggar and Wissman gave their relationship another try, this time taking it more seriously.
“It was like, ‘What are we doing? We still enjoy each other. We still really appreciate each other,’ ” she told People. “I had been a slower mover on it, but just over time, his character, his coming back, still loving me no matter what. I know we have a big crazy family and still kind of putting up with a lot of things. I’m like, my goodness, there are not too many people that do that. He must really, genuinely care about me.”
One of Duggar’s sisters responded to the Instagram post, congratulating the soon-to-be first-time parents.
“So excited for y’all,” Jill Duggar commented. While other fans jointed in on the celebration as well.
“Yay! Actual tears I am so happy for you. I think this is my favourite Duggar pregnancy announcement ever.”
“I feel like there’s no one on this earth more deserving to be a parent!”
