Several reports have revealed that the assistant Director for the hit Netflix show Diego Borella has died while on the set of the show.
“Emily in Paris” is currently filming the fifth season of the show in Italy. According to E! News and People, local outlets are now confirming Borella’s death.
He was 47.
According to reports, Borella died while on the set of the hit show on Aug. 22. Borella was reportedly “preparing to film a final scene inside Venice’s historic Hotel Danieli” when he collapsed.
According to an Italian publication known as La Repubblica, on set medical staff attempted to revive Borella as “a local doctor rushed to the scene.”
The unnamed doctor allegedly confirmed the assistant director’s death to La Repubblica, citing a “sudden heart attack” as the “likely” cause of death, E! News reports.

“Our ambulance arrived at 18.42 (on Thursday evening),” the Venice, Italy health service told The Independent. “Medics made attempts to resuscitate him. But in the end all efforts proved fruitless. At around 19.30, he was pronounced deceased.”
According to People, filming of the final episode of the fifth season was initially suspended and a spokesperson for Paramount Television Studios released a statement through the publication.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the Emily in Paris production family,” the spokesperson told People. “Our hearts go out to the individual’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Filming later resumed the following day, Saturday, Aug. 23, per People.
