Vin Diesel shares family dinner with Meadow Walker as they mark 25 years of
'Fast & Furious.'
A 26-year-old comedian walks out of a Broadway theater, picks up a marker to sign autographs for fans, and accidentally ends up with black ink on his face and shirt.
That’s it. That’s the story your teenager has been cracking up about for days.
And honestly? Once you know the details, you might laugh too.
Jake Shane — podcaster, comedian, actor and one of Gen Z’s favorite internet personalities — recently called this his “most embarrassing moment” ever.

No scandal. No drama. Just a Sharpie, a white shirt and a whole lot of jokes at his own expense.
Meet Jake Shane, Your Kid’s Favorite Content Creator
Shane has built a devoted young fanbase through comedy, podcasting and social media.
His whole thing is being relatable and funny rather than edgy or controversial, which is the kind of thing that might put a parent’s mind at ease when scrolling through their kid’s phone.
His popularity recently jumped from the internet to one of entertainment’s biggest stages.
Shane made his Broadway debut on Feb. 17 in All Out: Comedy About Ambition, a show that also featured Broadway debuts from Ray Romano, Nicholas Braun and Jenny Slate. His rotation in All Out was set to continue through March 8.
Landing a spot alongside that lineup says something about where internet creators fit in the entertainment world right now.
What Actually Happened With the Sharpie?
After his Broadway appearance on Feb. 28, Shane was outside the theater greeting fans, signing playbills and taking selfies — standard post-show stuff. He had two pens in his hand and tried to take the cap off one of the Sharpies with his mouth while using the other pen to sign a playbill.
It did not go well.
Shane fumbled the Sharpie and caught it with his shirt. The tip of the marker left a black dot on his clean shirt. Then he put the Sharpie in his mouth and signed the playbill with the other pen, which created an even bigger problem.

Shane posted a video of the incident on Instagram. “Oh ummmmmm it’s really bad,” he wrote in the caption.
He also posted a photo from the car ride home that night showing the full damage: a black dot on his cheek from holding the Sharpie in his mouth.
In his Instagram caption, Shane wrote: “I cannot describe the amount of aura I just lost while getting sharpie on my face in front of a group of people. It was genuinely the most embarrassing moment of my life. I’m like freaking out.”
Fans Turned the Embarrassment Into a Viral Moment
What happened next shows the kind of positive fan-creator interaction that defines the better corners of internet culture.
Some fans in the comment sections were calling the incident “Sharpie gate.” Others joked that a “Sharpie partnership” was on the horizon, a playful nod to the way influencers often land brand sponsorship deals.
The following day, Shane posted another video of himself lying in bed, still clearly amused and haunted by the mishap. “Sharpies will haunt my dreams,” he wrote in the caption.
That video was paired with audio from a fan who attended the March 1 show — the performance right after the infamous Sharpie night. The fan recounted what happened at the stage door that evening.
“When Jake got over to us, he did unfortunately almost get sharpie on himself again. Not on his face and shirt this time — just on his shirt,” the fan said in her original TikTok video.
But the story had a happy ending.
“We did ask him for confirmation on whether or not he got the Sharpie out of his shirt from the other night and he did because somebody named Riley helped him with a laundry tip. So, shout out to Riley,” the fan added.
