Ava, which translates to "voice" or "sound" in Persian, is primarily used as a variant of Eva, which is believed to be derived from the Hebrew word haya, meaning "to live." Though utilized in the U.S. as far back as 1900, the name Ava skyrocketed in popularity after debuting inside the top 100 in 2002. It has now been a top 10 baby name every year since 2005 and doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Even celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon, including actress Reese Witherspoon, actor Jeremy Renner, actor David Faustino, actress Amber Stevens West and actress Heather Locklear -- all of whom have daughters named Ava.
