Dahlia, a beautiful botanical flower name, is derived from the surname of Swedish botanist Anders Dahl, whom the flower was named after. Dahlias are a genus of about 40 species of flowering plants in the aster family. They come in every color of the rainbow and it's the national flower of Mexico. It first appeared in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names in 2006 and entered the top-300 for the first time in 2022. It's the name "Top Chef" judge Gail Simmons gave her daughter, Dahlia Rae, born in 2020.
