Some theories suggest that it's composed of the Hebrew elements el, meaning "God," and ena, meaning "renewer," which would translate to "God renews." Elena has been featured in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names every year since 1900, but it has never been more popular than it is right now.
