Elian, the Dutch variant of Elijah, comes from the Hebrew name Eliyyahu and is derived from the Hebrew elements el, meaning "God," and yah, meaning "Yahweh," another way of saying "God." Therefore, it translates to "my God is Yahweh." The name first appeared in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for boy names in 2000. While it's not as popular as Eli and Elias, it did crack the top-250 in the U.S. for the first time in 2023.
