Ezekiel, one of the most popular biblical names today, comes from the Hebrew name Yehezqel and is derived from the Hebrew roots hazaq, meaning "to strengthen," and el, meaning "God." It started losing popularity in the mid-1900s, but made a comeback in the 1980s and entered the Social Security Administration's top-200 boy names for the first time in 2011. Ezekiel has now been a top-100 boy's name every year since 2017 and a top-50 boy's name since 2022. Former "Martin" actress Tisha Campbell-Martin welcomed a boy named Ezekiel Czar in 2009.
