Jace, a shortened form of Jason, comes from the Greek name Iason and Greek word iaomai, meaning "to heal." It was brought to light by Jace Pearson, a fictional Texas Ranger created for the radio and television show "Tales of the Texas Rangers." It's no coincidence that the name debuted on the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for boy names in 1956, the year after the hit show premiered. It slowly gained popularity over the next five decades and cracked the top-200 for the first time in 2006 beore spending much of the 2010s in the top-100. Jace has now been a top-150 boy's name every year since 2010 and was the name "One Tree Hill" actress Jana Kramer gave her son Jace Joseph in 2018. Other parents prefer Jay, Jayce, Jason and Jayceon.
