Jayce, a variant of Jace and shortened form of Jason (also spelled Jayceon), is ultimately derived from the Greek name Iason and Greek word iaomai, meaning "to heal." Jayce first appeared in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for boy names in 1986, but didn't truly catch on with parents until the 2000s. The name has now been a top-200 boy's name every year since 2013, but many parents (including country singer Jana Kramer and "Teen Mom" star Jenelle Evans) prefer to spell it Jace.
