The name Judah comes from the Hebrew name Yehuda and is derived from the Hebrew word yada, meaning "praise." In the Bible, Judah was the fourth of six sons of Jacob and his wife Leah, and the head of one of the 12 tribes of Israel. The Messiah was prophesied to come from the tribe of Judah. Despite its Biblical relevance, the name didn't appear in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for boy names until 1997. It first cracked the top-200 in 2019 and has grown more popular every year since. It's the middle name Filipino singer-actress Rachelle Ann Go chose for her son Lukas Judah, born in 2021.
