The name Kylie is believed to be derived from the Australian word kiley, meaning "boomerang." Other theories suggest that it's a feminine form of the name Kyle or a combination of the phonetic elements ky and lee. It first appeared in the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names in 1978 before cracking the top-100 for the first time in 2001, four years after Kris Jenner gave birth to Kylie Jenner. It was a top-100 girl's name every year between 2001 and 2016, but recently fell out of the top-200 in 2023. It's also the name of retired NFL center Jason Kelce's wife, Kylie Kelce.
