The name Lydia means "from Lydia" in Greek and refers to the place name for an ancient kingdom in western Asia Minor, a part of modern-day Turkey. The kingdom was believed to be named after King Lydos. Lydia was a top-300 girl's name every year between 1900 and 1968 before it started losing its traction in the United States. Its comeback came in the 1980s and it has now been a top-100 girl's name every year since 2011. Two of its most famous bearers include actor-comedian Chris Hardwick's wife Lydia Hearst and former TOWIE star Lydia Bright.
