Lyla, a variant of Leila and Lilah, is believed to mean "night" in Persian, but it can also be derived from the Latin word lilium, referring to the lily flower. It wasn't popular in the United States until the early 2000s when it went from ranking 865th in 2005 to cracking the top-200 for the first time just four years later. Lyla has now been a top-150 girl's name every year since 2014 and debuted inside the top-100 for the first time in 2023. It's also the name Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger chose for their first child together, Lyla Maria, born in 2020.
