Magnolia, an up-and-coming flower name, comes from the English word magnolia, referring to the flower named after French botanist Pierre Magnol. Magnolia flowers are one of the earliest known flowering plants with fossils dating back more than 100 million years. The name fell off the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names every year between 1941 and 2012, but returned to the list in 2013 and debuted inside the top-200 in 2020. It has since spent two years in the top-150 and is one of the many flower names ready to bloom. "The Bachelorette" alum Emily Maynard named her daughter Magnolia Belle in 2020, while "Little Women: LA" star Terra Jolé chose the name Magnolia August for her daughter the same year. No Doubt drummer Adrian Young also has a daughter named Magnolia Renée, born in 2011.
