The name Malachi comes from the Hebrew name Mal'aki, which is believed to be derived from the Hebrew word mal'ak, meaning "messenger" or "angel." In the Old Testament, Malachi is one of the 12 minor prophets and the author of the Book of Malachi. The name wasn't popular in the United States until the late-1980s and has now been a top-200 boy's name every year since 2003. It's also the name model Ashley Graham chose for one of her twin sons Malachi (the other being Roman), born in 2021.
