Valeria, the feminine form of Valerius, is derived from the Latin word valere, meaning "to be strong." It has appeared on the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names every year since 1900, with the exception of 1945, 1977-1982 and 1984. Valeria started gaining popularity in the 1990s and was a top-100 girl's name every year between 2006 and 2010, but has declined in the years since and has struggled to remain in the top-150. Other variations include Valerie and Valery.
