Victor, the masculine form of Victoria, comes from the Latin word victor, meaning "conqueror," "winner" and "victor." It was popularized by Victor Hugo, the author of "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" and "Les Misérables." It has appeared inside the Social Security Administration's top-125 every year between 1900 and 2009, but has declined in usage in the years since. It fell out of the top-200 for the first time ever in 2020 and ranked as low as 217th, as of 2023. "Big Brother" winner Nicole Franzel named her son Victor "Arrow" Arroyo IV in 2021.
