Wren, one of the trendiest animal names for girls today, comes from the Old English word wrenna, referring to the small brown songbird. It first appeared on the Social Security Administration's top 1,000 for girl names in 2012 and has now been a top-200 girl's name every year since 2022. Thanks to singer John Legend and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, the name is also making rounds as a boy's name after they welcomed son Wren Alexander in 2023, the same year it debuted on the SSA's top 1,000 for boy names.
