It debuted as a given name on the Social Security Administration's top-700 for boy names in 1998 and has only grown more popular since. Zion has been a top-200 boy's name every year since 2017 and cracked the top-125 for the first time in 2023. Singer Lauryn Hill welcomed a son named Zion Marley in 1997 and recorded a song titled "To Zion" about her decision to have a child at the height of her career. Entertainer Nick Cannon also has a son named Zion, whom he shares with DJ and radio personality Abby De La Rosa.
