“We took some time to settle into our new rhythm before sharing this sweet news.”
Luke Combs has plenty of baby name ideas — but his wife likely wouldn’t approve any of them.
The 35-year-old country music singer is already a father to two sons with relatively unique names — Tex Lawrence, born in 2022, and Beau Lee, born in 2023 — whom he shares with wife Nicole Hocking, per People.
The couple now have a third baby on the way, who is due this winter.
“Third time’s a charm!” the couple wrote on Instagram alongside a video of them revealing their pregnancy to their two sons while sitting on the grass. “Baby #3 coming this winter.”
Now nearly two months after sharing the happy announcement, Combs is admitting that he and his wife haven’t made any progress on potential baby names for their incoming child — whose gender won’t be revealed until birth.
In an interview with “Taste of Country Nights,” published Nov. 18, Combs revealed that he and Hocking “have been struggling” to come up with baby names they “truly like.”
But if it were up to him (and him only), then Combs has a few he would strongly consider.
“Without approval, if I was just wildcarding it, I love the name Flint. It would probably be a middle name. It would be a weird first name, but I would love to sneak that in,” he said in the interview.
“I doubt that that’s gonna get approved,” he added of the name Flint.

Flint, which comes directly from the English word flint, referring to the type of rock commonly used in creating fire, would be a perfect winter or fall baby name due to its resemblance to heat and warmth.
It can also refer to Flint, Michigan, the 12th most populous city in the state.
But Combs was right — it’s not exactly one of the most common F boy names in use today.
According to the Social Security Administration, Flint has only appeared in the SSA’s top 1,000 twice since 1900 — doing so in 1959 and 1960 — and was only given to 79 baby boys in 2024.
Other baby name ideas Luke Combs would love to go with
If Luke Combs’ baby ends up being a girl, he has a few baby names that would fit the bill.
“For a girl name, I feel like I would go with something old-school — something like Olive. Something kinda wild,” he said in his interview with “Taste of Country Nights.”
“My grandmother’s name was Donna. That’s not a common name either, but I think that would be kinda sick,” he added of his love affair with old school baby names.

Unfortunately, Combs isn’t confident in either of those two names being chosen by his wife — adding that Olive and Donna are ideas best reserved for “a universe where my wife isn’t, ‘Please don’t do that.’
But who knows — maybe Luke Combs’ wife will end up liking one of his baby name ideas.
After all, Donna and Olive are both more common than Tex.
According to the Social Security Administration, Tex was given to just 20 baby boys in 2024, while Olive was given to 1,778 baby girls and Donna was given to 102 baby girls.
And while Beau was given to 4,694 baby boys last year, it only recently (in 2021) entered the top-100 for the first time since the SSA started recording baby name data.
