On May 11, the Social Security Administration (SSA) celebrated Mother’s Day with the official release of the 1,000 most popular boy names in the United States for 2024.
As was expected, Liam (No. 1) and Noah (No. 2) came out on top for the eighth consecutive year.

In fact, not much changed from 2023 to 2024 as the top-10 consisted of the same names — albeit in a different order.
Theodore jumped from 7th in 2023 to 4th in 2024 and Henry jumped from 8th to 6th, while James, Elijah and Mateo each digressed. Liam, Noah, Oliver, Lucas and William saw no change at all.

The SSA gathers its data from the millions of Social Security cards that are registered at the time of a child’s birth each year.
For 2024, the SSA’s database included 3,612,777 babies — 1,845,330 of which were born male.
