On May 11, the SSA continued its Mother’s Day tradition of releasing its annual list of the 1,000 most popular girl names in the United States from the previous year.
And, as was expected, Olivia (No. 1) and Emma (No. 2) topped the charts for the sixth consecutive year.

In fact, 9 of the 10 most popular girl names of 2023 remained in the top-10 in 2024, albeit in a different order, and the only difference was Luna being replaced by Sofia as the 10th most popular girl’s name.
Amelia, Mia and Evelyn all moved up one spot, while Charlotte, Sophia and Ava all moved back one spot. Oliva, Emma and Isabella remained unphased year-to-year.
