“We took some time to settle into our new rhythm before sharing this sweet news.”
Kailee Zak is doubling down on her baby’s name — and finding humor in the comments.
On Oct. 26, the 22-year-old TikTok mom — who lives in Central Texas — shared a video of her baby name reveal as she awaits the arrival of her second child (and first baby girl) with husband Clayton Zak.
In the video, Kailee is holding up a pair of Lucchese cowboy boots in front of a wall that reads, “Lukacey Lynn.”
“The most special name to us,” Kailee wrote in the TikTok caption. “So excited for our girl to be here.”

As you can likely expect, the comment section was filled with mixed reactions and strong opinions.
- “A reminder we’re naming babies that will be adults”
- “Do we get a vote or?”
- “Oh. Well that’s certainly a choice.”
- “Your child is still unique even if they have a normal name. Why are we doing this?”
- “We really just be slapping random letters together and calling it a name these days”
- “That’s Lucrazy”
- “As someone who changed their full legal name as an adult because of something like this, please don’t.”
- “It’s too early for me to get annoyed already so I’m just gunna say good for y’all and keep on scrolling”
For those who don’t know, Lucchese is an American brand, founded in 1883, that is famous for high-quality, artisan-crafted cowboy boots and Western apparel.
The brand name — as well as its baby name variant Lukacey — is pronounced loo-KAY-see.

In an interview with Today.com, published Nov. 6, Kailee explained why she decided to name her baby girl after the Lucchese boots and how her entering a “Western influencing era” helped inspire it.
"I got pregnant with my son when I was 17 and still in high school,” she said in the interview. “Being home with a baby and not going to college, I sort of lost myself a little bit and forgot who I was as a person.”
The boots eventually became a signature of her Western roots and overall style.
“I know it sounds silly, but those boots are just so meaningful to me," Kailee said — adding that her baby’s middle name, Lynn, is a nod to her late mother-in-law, who was also named Lynn.
In a separate TikTok video posted on Oct. 27, Kailee explained that the “Lu” in her daughter’s name is inspired by her sister and mother’s name, Luana, while the “kacey” is inspired by her other sister Macey.
Kailee Zak wasn’t the only TikTok mom to see beauty in the name
Despite the backlash she received, Kailee told Today.com that she’s not bothered by the comments — and is even finding humor in what many people are having a hard time accepting.
“Some of the comments were hysterical,” she told the outlet. “I couldn’t stop laughing.”
And while a lot of the comments were confused by the name, others were admired by it.
- “I literally love the name. Like yes, it’s a play on the boot brand, but in a tasteful, timeless way. Could be spelled Loukacey as well.”
- “i love it!! i’ve had lukasey picked out for a boy name for a while now and i love it for a little girl!”
- “Am I the only one who actually loves it? I think it’s so different and beautiful”
- “My friend’s are doing this for their girl but spelling it Lou Kasey. I think it’s cool lol Lou would be a cute nick name later”
- “Usually not a fan of “unique” names but this is adorable so girly”
“Everybody hating on her name just makes me love it even more,” Kailee wrote in an Oct. 28 TikTok. “Y’all realize there isn’t a thing y’all can say/comment that will ever make me not absolutely adore it.”
And to those who think Lukacey is a weird name, you’d be surprised to learn that Lucchese is even more popular than it.
According to the Social Security Administration, the name Lucchese was given to five baby boys and five baby girls in 2024 — while Lukacey was nowhere to be found on the SSA’s list.
Names that don’t crack the list were given to less than five babies (if any at all).
Other unique girl names that were given to at least five babies in 2024 include Kaycee, Kayce, Kaycie, Kaycen, Kayceon, Kayslee, Kaysi, Kaysyn, Kaysaun and Kayston, per the SSA.
