Every year, the Social Security Administration (SSA) releases baby name data from the previous year. 

While a lot of the attention lands on the SSA’s annual list of the 1,000 most popular baby names of that year, there’s much more to this data than the trendy baby names that saw the most usage. 

After all, most baby names that land in the top-100 will remain there for years, if not decades.

But if you’re truly interested in what baby names have to offer today — and where they’re going tomorrow — then there’s no better place to look than the baby names that increased in popularity the most in 2024. 

Luckily for us, that data exists and it includes some unique-but-incredible trendy baby names for boys and girls. 

Trendy Baby Boy Names With the Biggest Increase in Popularity

Most of us know at least one Liam, Noah or Oliver, but have you ever met someone named Truce?

Chances are you haven’t, considering it’s a name that was given to only 37 baby boys between 2020 and 2023, per the SSA, and was the 12,109th most popular boy’s name in the U.S. in 2023. 

But something happened in 2024 that saw Truce jump from 12,109th to 991st. 

That’s what you can expect from a name that was given to 227 baby boys in 2024, compared to just six the previous year — making Truce the one baby boy name that increased the most from year-to-year.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the other fastest-rising, trendy baby boy names that defined 2024.

Look out Olivia, Emma and Sophia/Sofia — there’s a new girl in town (several of them). 

The name Ailany increased in popularity more than any other girl’s name in 2024. It ranked 855th with 331 reported births in 2023, but jumped 754 spots to 101st with 2,596 births in 2024. 

The name that jumped the second-most in 2024? Aylani, a variant of the same name. 

In fact, Ailani also placed in the top-10, and Elani and Kailany cracked the top-20 when ranking girl names based on change in popularity — so plan on seeing plenty of variations of it in the coming years.
