Just 16 days after Ozzy Osbourne performed with his band he founded in 1968, Black Sabbath, for the final time, his family is making a heartbreaking announcement.
According to a statement shared with the media, his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and his four children, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, announced Ozzy Osbourne’s death.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the Osbourne family wrote in their statement.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” they continued, signing the note, “Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
The same night he performed with Black Sabbath for the final time, Ozzy Osbourne, also known by the nickname “Prince of Darkness,” got to witness his daughter say yes to her partner Sid Wilson’s marriage proposal.
In the video shared by Kelly Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne stole the show with his humor as Wilson asked for Kelly Osbourne’s hand in marriage.
“Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world,” Wilson says, before Ozzy Osbourne interrupts, yelling, “No, you’re not marrying my daughter.” The group, including Kelly Osbourne, erupts into laughter before Wilson continues.
“Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you,” Wilson added as he’s seen taking a ring box out of his bag and a stunned Kelly Osbourne’s mouth drops open.
The Osbourne family shared several videos and images on social media of Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance on July 5. It was the first time he performed with the band in 20 years, the BBC reported.
In addition to Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, Ozzy Osbourne is also a father to Elliot Kingsley and Jessica Osbourne. It’s unclear why their names were not included in the statement.
Prior to his death, Ozzy Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2003, People reported. As a result of living with the disease, Sharon Osbourne, 72, says her husband was no longer able to walk.
“Parkinson’s is a progressive disease. It’s not something you can stabilize. It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs,” she told The Sun in February. “But his voice is as good as it’s ever been.”
On his SiriusXM radio show, Ozzy Osbourne shared his appreciation for life, according to The Sun. “I have made it to 2025,” he told his listeners. “I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive.”
“I may be moaning that I can’t walk but I look down the road and there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me and didn’t make it,” he added.
