Three kids walked into a room full of cameras and journalists — and just like that, the ‘Harry Potter’ era began.
If you grew up racing home after school to catch Boy Meets World, you already know: Mr. Feeny wasn’t just a TV teacher. He was the TV teacher. And the man behind that iconic role, William Daniels, just celebrated his 99th birthday — surrounded by family and still very much living by the wisdom he once delivered to Cory Matthews through a backyard fence.
Daniels turned 99 on March 31, and the way he marked the occasion is almost too wholesome for the internet to handle.
A Family Birthday Fit for Mr. Feeny
Daniels celebrated in Los Angeles with his wife, Bonnie Bartlett, 96, their sons Michael (62) and Robert (60), their wives and four grandchildren. Some family members even traveled from the East Coast for the gathering, according to TODAY.
“I’m going to spend my birthday with my family, and Michael is going to feed us,” Daniels told the outlet.
If that doesn’t sound exactly like something Mr. Feeny would say — dry, warm and perfectly understated — then you need to go rewatch the series. (And honestly, if you’re already queuing it up for your kids on streaming, we see you.)

75 Years of Marriage — Yes, Really
Here’s a detail that might make your jaw drop: Daniels and Bartlett have been married since June 30, 1951 — roughly 75 years. Their marriage has been noted as the longest active Hollywood marriage at 74-plus years. And if you watched “Boy Meets World,” you’ve actually seen them together on screen — Bartlett played Mr. Feeny’s wife on the show.
“I have a wonderful wife, Bonnie, who has put up with me for 75 years,” Daniels joked. “She keeps me busy.”
When asked about the secret to their lasting relationship, Daniels offered the kind of real, unpolished honesty that made Mr. Feeny such an enduring character.
“I think the main reason why we’ve been married for 75 years is because we never seriously considered being with anyone else. So we had to work things out. You know?” Daniels told PEOPLE.
Bartlett shared her own take: “It’s like we don’t have to communicate almost. We just know what to do,” she said. “And when one person is upset, the other person sort of kind of calms down and we help each other in that way.”
Still Going Strong — and Still Showing Up for Fans
At nearly 100 years old, Daniels hasn’t slowed down. He and Bartlett work out with a personal trainer twice a week — a shift from his earlier days of swimming and playing tennis. His advice? “Keep moving. Do things you enjoy and find some kind of exercise that you like.”
But what might resonate most with the generation that grew up watching him is this: Daniels is still showing up — for fans. He attended San Diego Rocket Con 2026 and Pasadena Comic Con 2026 and regularly creates Cameo videos.

“I do hundreds of cameos every year, and that feels good,” he says. “It allows me to perform, which demands a certain amount of energy and focus. I think that’s good for me. I like being productive.”
A Legacy That Still Means Something
When Daniels reflects on what’s kept him going, it sounds a lot like a final lesson from the man himself.
“I think the most important thing you should know is that I am very lucky. I’ve been able to work and keep active and have a sense of purpose,” says Daniels. “I was on ‘Boy Meets World’ until I was 73 years old!”
As for turning 100? Classic Feeny energy: “Oh, I don’t want to be a hundred. Who wants to be a hundred?”
And yet: “I certainly don’t feel 99 years old, that’s for sure.”
For a generation of millennials now raising kids of their own, Daniels remains what he always was — proof that showing up with warmth, humor and purpose never goes out of style. Class dismissed. For now.
