UPDATE: On August 7, one day after Kelly Clarkson announced the postponement of several of her Las Vegas residency shows, People is reporting her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock has died.
Blackstock, who was also the former stepson of Reba McEntire, was 48.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," a rep for the Blackstock told People.
"Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,” the statement continued. “He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."

On Wednesday, August 6, Clarkson took to Instagram to make the announcement about Blackstock’s illness.

According to the singer and talk show host, Clarkson revealed she made the decision to postpone her remaining August shows. Currently, Clarkson is headlining a Las Vegas Residency titled “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions.”
Sadly, in the statement shared on her Instagram page, Clarkson revealed that she would be postponing her shows in order to give her children her undivided attention.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” Clarkson began her statement.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson continued. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Fans applauded Clarkson for putting her children before her career.
“Those kids need you more than we do! Go be the best momma! Best wishes to all involved,” one fan commented.
“Family first. Was so excited to be there next Friday. And I’ll be back when you re schedule,” another fan added.
“Family always comes first, Kelly. Take the time you need,” read another one.
Clarkson shares her two children, River Rose and Remington, with her ex-husband, her former manager Brandon Blackstock.
Clarkson and Blackstock wed in 2013 before divorcing in 2022.
