“It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this.”
After Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper publicly celebrated the upcoming arrival of his fourth child, his wife is sharing her own reaction.
During a game against the San Francisco Giants on April 14, Bryce and his wife, Kayla Harper, enlisted the help of one of his teammates to reveal the gender of their fourth child.
As Bryce prepared for an at-bat, his teammate Trea Turner handed him a special bat—powder blue in color—revealing that Bryce and his wife of eight years are expecting a son.
Now, in a series of new videos and photos, Kayla is revealing more intimately exactly how it all went down.
“Baby BOY Harper coming 2025 🩵,” Kayla captioned her Instagram post.
“We wanted to be surprised and find out together, so we recruited Trea for some help,” Kayla explained as she shared photos of how Turner presented the bats to Bryce.
“The doctor texted him the news and he was given two bats—one pink, one blue. Right before Bryce’s first at-bat, Trea gave him the bat that matched the baby’s gender,” Kayla continued.
“We’re so excited to add another boy to the family to even us out,” the soon-to-be mom of four said as videos showed her crying with excitement from the stands as she watched Bryce holding the blue bat.

On the 14th, the announcers covering the game were aware of the gender reveal, saying, “Now you can take a look at the bat he’s using,” one announcer said as Harper locked in at the plate. “He’s using the Victus bat—the blue bat. Well, guess what?”
The announcer went on to explain that the custom bats had just arrived at the ballpark that day.
Bryce and Kayla, both 32, are also parents to 5-year-old Krew Aron, 4-year-old Brooklyn Elizabeth, and 11-month-old Kamryn Ray.
In a 2022 interview with AM 570 LA Sports, Bryce praised his wife and their then-two children:
“I have an amazing wife [and] two beautiful kids that keep me very humbled and grounded,” he shared. “When I leave the field, it's all about them."
"My wife takes care of the kids at home. She does a great job with that. She supports me each night, goes to every single game she can… I’m humbled to have a wife and a family like that.”
