“No! No! Did somebody actually do that?”

The legendary singer-songwriter, who co-founded the Beach Boys in 1961 and acted as the group’s de facto leader for more than six decades, died of an undisclosed cause on June 11, according to his family.

On June 14, one day ahead of Father’s Day, Brian Wilson’s daughter, singer Carnie Wilson, took to Instagram to share a photo of a billboard that left her mind blown and “full of gratitude.”
The billboard read, “Brian, it was nice,” referring to one of the Beach Boys’ hit songs, “Wouldn’t It Be Nice?” and the title to Brian Wilson’s first memoir, “Wouldn't It Be Nice: My Own Story.”
According to Carnie Wilson, the billboard was located “in the streets of LA.”
“I can't get over this. His spirit is floating around seeing all these billboards and dedications. It's mind blowing and beautiful. My heart is both heavy and full of gratitude and light,” she wrote in the caption.
“Daddy ... I'm missing you and loving you,” she concluded.
Fans were quick to share their own tributes for Brian Wilson in the comment section.
Fellow singer Michael Buble commented a string of red heart emojis, while six-time Grammy winner Questlove added, “Beautiful.”
“He left the world unimaginably richer than it ever would have been without him. We are all so lucky and grateful for what he gave us and all future generations,” wrote actor Adam Goldbert.
“In this crazy time, Brian once again connects us all:). We loved him so. Thinking of you and Wendy,” one fan wrote, while another added, “A hero to millions, he made the world so much better.”
In addition to Carnie Wilson, Brian Wilson had a second daughter, Wendy, with his ex-wife Marilyn Wilson. He also shared five adopted children with his wife Melinda Wilson.
Brian Wilson was the mastermind behind ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice?’
The Beach Boys’ song “Wouldn’t It Be Nice?” is about “a budding romance between two lovers, who long for a little more time together,” per the American Songwriter.
In rock writer Nick Kent’s 2002 book, “The Dark Stuff,” Tony Asher (who helped write the hit song), opened up about the origin of the song.
“[The song] was definitely Brian’s idea. The innocence of the situation — being too young to get married — seemed to be immensely appealing to him,” Asher said of the song.
“I can remember being in restaurants with him and some young girl would inevitably walk in and he’d almost melt, y’know. He’d get all misty-eyed and just stare at her,” he added.
The song goes: “Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up / In the morning when the day is new? / After having spent the day together / Hold each other close the whole night through,” per Genius.
“But happy times together we've been spending / I wish that every kiss was never-ending / Oh, wouldn't it be nice?” Brian Wilson sings in the chorus.
Carnie Wilson spots another billboard honoring Brian Wilson
On June 15, in honor of Father’s Day, Carnie Wilson spotted yet another billboard honoring her father.
This time, it was a reader board located outside of Aviator Nation Dreamland in Malibu, CA that read, “Good Vibrations Forever Brian Wilson 1942 to 2025.”
Carnie Wilson, best known as a member of Wilson Phillips, explained what made the photo special in the caption.
“Right where Daddy used to live. Keeping his memory alive! Thank you,” she wrote.
“I’ve been listening to their songs since he passed. So upbeat and fun. Thank you Brian and The Beach Boys. He lives on in you,” one fan wrote in the comment section.
Carnie Wilson later detailed how she spent her first Father’s Day without Brian Wilson.
“Spent the night with Family and we told stories... laughed , cried and ate Steak. Made my Mac and vanilla cake like you wanted. We lit a candle and sang you an early HB,” she wrote in a separate post.
Brian Wilson would’ve turned 83 on June 20.
