As Thomas Rhett’s fans patiently wait for the arrival of his newest bundle of joy, they’ve also been making some predictions.
Cody Johnson wants his young fans to know that they’re cut from the same cloth as him.
In an interview with “Taste of Country Nights,” published Dec. 16, the 38-year-old country music star was asked what his usual response is when young fans run up to him and call him their hero.
“These kids come up to me at my shows and they say, ‘I wanna be just like you when I grow up,’” Johnson said in the interview.
His response to the idolism is exactly what parents would want him to say to their kids.

“Dude, I’m just as messed up as a lot of people. I’m human too,” he says to the kids. “Don’t look at the stage and think, ‘That guy’s got something that nobody else does.’”
Johnson went on to tell “Taste of Country Nights” that he’s far from perfect, but he has “tried very, very hard over the years to get closer to God, get closer to being a better man.”
The interview comes almost two months after Cody Johnson’s wife welcomed their third baby together.
"I didn't know if you were gonna bring it up, but yeah, baby Jaycee, finally got my boy," Johnson said while co-hosting the “Country Countdown USA” with Lon Helton in mid-November.

The baby boy, named Jaycee, was born on Oct. 21, per Johnson.
"He and Mom are here at the house. They're happy and healthy, and it's been a wonderful experience,” he said of the new baby.
Johnson and his wife, Brandi, have known each other since they were teenagers, but didn’t start dating until years later and eventually wed in 2008, according to People.
The couple are also parents to two daughters — Clara Mae, born in 2015, and Cori, born in 2017.
Cody Johnson wants his kids to see how hard he works
Cody Johnson’s reminder to young fans is reminiscent of what he tries to teach his own kids.
The “‘Til You Can’t” singer, who worked as a professional bull rider before committing full-time to his music career, has become one of country’s biggest stars over the past six years.

He won his first (and second) CMA Award in 2022 when “‘Til You Can’t” was named the Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
He went on to win Album of the Year for “Leather” in 2024 and, most recently, Male Vocalist of the Year on Nov. 19.

But even while traveling on tour, he makes sure his daughters (and now his son) are right there beside him.
"I teach them there's character in hard work. This is not just, 'You're gonna watch me on TV tonight and it looks real glamorous.' It's a lot of miles, a lot of work,’’ he told People in 2022.
In an interview with “Taste of Country” in 2023, he opened up about what it means to be a girl dad.
“I just always try to be with my girls, the guy that I want them to bring home someday,” he said. “I figure if I can do that ... their standards will be here.”
