Here they go again! On Tuesday, August 26, country music star Thomas Rhett Akins and his wife Lauren Akins took to social media to share some big news.
The video, shared on Instagram, showed Lauren setting up their camera as Thomas stood by a wooden fence with his guitar in his hands. As Lauren backed away from the camera, Thomas started performing a new rendition of one of his most popular songs, “Life Changes.”
The song, which he released in 2017, celebrated his and Lauren’s growing family.
“I remember the day I told my daddy and mama, ‘You're gonna have a grandkid.’ Yep, from Uganda, that's right, we're adoptin’. And she is the cutest little girl that you've ever seen,” the original lyrics read.
“Well I was wrappin' my head around bein' a dad, a bigger wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had. Now Lauren's showin' and got one on the way. Yeah that's two under two, hey, what can I say?”
Since “Life Changes” was released 8 years ago, Thomas and Lauren have welcomed two more daughters into their world. And one more is about to be added into the mix.
“Are you ready, honey?” Lauren asks her husband as he begins strumming his guitar.
“Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad, a bigger wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had,” Thomas began singing. “Now Lauren’s showing. Got one on the way,” Thomas continued as Lauren rubbed her growing baby bump before holding up a series of sonogram images.
“That's five under 10. Now hey, what can I say? Life changes. You wake up, ain't nothing the same and life changes.”
Fans were thrilled to learn the beloved couple was growing their family by one. “Here we go again,” Thomas captioned the video. “We’ve got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good.”
Lauren and Thomas have known each other since they were in the first grade. According to People, they briefly dated in high school before eventually going their separate ways, but always remaining “best friends.”
In 2011, after dating other people, the former lovers reconnected at a party for Lauren’s sister and Thomas proposed six months later. Lauren and Thomas married in 2012, welcoming their oldest daughter, Willa Gray, now 9, into their world via adoption in 2017.
Just several weeks later, Lauren gave birth to their second daughter, Ada James, 8, on August 12, 2017.
In February 2020, Thomas and Lauren welcomed their third daughter 5-year-old Lennon Love into the world and their fourth daughter Lillie Carolina, 3, on November 15, 2021.
