This week, Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert welcomed their daughter into the world, a moment made all the more meaningful by the heartbreak that preceded it.
Diane Keaton’s children found the perfect way to honor their mom.
The “Annie Hall” and “Something’s Got to Give” actress, who was 79 when she died of pneumonia on Oct. 11, was a single mom to her two adopted kids — daughter Dexter, 29, and son Duke, 25.
On Jan. 5, Dexter took to Instagram to share how she and her brother are remembering her on what would be her 80th birthday.
“I miss you mom,” she wrote in the caption alongside a photo of the tattoos she and Duke got on their forearm — with Dexter’s reading, “La Di Da,” and Duke’s reading, “Weird Old World.”

Dexter went on to thank Los Angeles tattoo artist Winterstone for what she described as her “forever reminder of my wonderful mom.”
She also wished her mom a “Happy heavenly birthday” in an Instagram Story, which showed off a set of black nails with white polka dots alongside a heart charm bracelet with the initials “DK” on it.
The tattoos come less than three months after Diane Keaton’s death was confirmed in October.
"The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane,” her family wrote in an Oct. 16 statement.
They went on to praise Keaton for her love for animals and support of the unhoused community.
"Any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her,” the family added in the statement, per People.
Diane Keaton’s kids weren’t alone in honoring their mom

Dexter and Duke weren’t the only ones who got a “forever reminder” of Keaton on her 80th birthday.
Keaton’s former “The Other Sister” co-star, Sarah Paulson, also took to Instagram on Jan. 5 to share a photo of a tattoo she got in honor of Keaton — which was also inked by tattoo artist Winterstone.
“You would have been 80 today,” she wrote in the caption. “Too many deep feelings to put here…”
“I was the luckiest person in the world to have traveled, laughed so hard we cried, watched a million and one movies, really cried, and eaten French fries with you. You. You. Wondrous, singular, YOU,” she added.
Winterstone also shared a photo of Paulson’s tattoo to his Instagram page.
“What you did for your people in time of heavy grief was just Amazing! Happy I got to share that moment with you!” he wrote of Paulson, who he described as an “incredible friend.”
