Donna Kelce is weighing in on Taylor Swift’s historic appearance on her sons’ “New Heights” podcast.
The 72-year-old mom of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce attended the Aug. 24 premiere of “The Kingdom,” a six-part docuseries by ESPN that follows the Chiefs’ unsuccessful pursuit of a three-peat.
On the red carpet, Donna Kelce confirmed that she was one of the millions of viewers to tune in to the record-breaking podcast episode.
“I did watch the podcast. I watch all their podcasts,” she told People of “New Heights,” which Travis Kelce hosts with his older brother, retired NFL center Jason Kelce.
“I think it was just really, really eventful,” she continued, “It was authentic. It was just something that I think everybody was thrilled to see, and it was just very loving. It was a very loving podcast.”
Taylor Swift’s “New Heights” episode peaked at 1.3 million concurrent livestream viewers, which was more than any other podcast ever recorded on YouTube, according to Billboard.
It has racked up more than 20 million views since its release on Aug. 13, per YouTube, and is the most-watched “New Heights” podcast episode since its debut in September 2022, per People.
Jason Kelce’s wife Kylie Kelce previously held the record for her 2023 appearance on the podcast, which has attracted nearly nine million views over the past two years.
The podcast currently boasts more than three million subscribers on YouTube and 3.3 million followers on Instagram.
Donna Kelce’s ex-husband Ed Kelce also watched the episode
Donna Kelce wasn’t the only Kelce parent to make an appearance at “The Kingdom” premiere.
Travis Kelce’s father Ed Kelce, who was married to Donna Kelce for 25 years until their divorce, which occurred after both of their sons graduated college, per Us Weekly.
While talking to People on the red carpet, Ed Kelce revealed that he, too, watched Taylor Swift’s epic “New Heights” episode.
“I think it was awesome,” he said of the podcast, which saw Swift announce her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
"It was great to see them go back and forth. They're two people obviously very much in love,” he added of the couple’s chemistry.
When asked about the source of his son’s happiness the past two years, Ed Kelce was quick to credit Taylor Swift — adding that “there’s no question about it.”
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce confirmed their relationship in October 2023, several months after he attended her “The Eras Tour” and one month after her first Chiefs’ game, per Cosmopolitan.
While Taylor Swift wasn’t at “The Kingdom” premiere, she does make an appearance in the docuseries.
According to Kristen Lappas, the series’ director, Swift was “very supportive” of the show and “approved all of her image and likeness” in the project, per People.
All six episodes of “The Kingdom” were released on Aug. 14, per ESPN, and are currently available to stream on ESPN+.
