“I didn't have a lot of space to write songs for women so I purposefully tried to write songs that men could record.”
Ella Stiller is following in her famous parents’ footsteps.
The 23-year-old daughter of actors Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor was recently cast as the titular character in “Dilaria,” a new Off-Broadway play written by Julia Randall and directed by Alex Keegan.
In a recent interview with People, published June 16, Ella Stiller described making her Off-Broadway debut as a “dream come true.”

"This is the exact kind of thing I've wanted to do my whole life," Ella Stiller, who recently graduated from The Juilliard School in New York City, said of the upcoming world premiere.
The actress went on to reveal that her recent success has brought her family closer together.
"It's only deepened,” she said of her relationship with her parents. “Because it's just another thing to connect on, to be able to talk about and to relate to on a deeper level."
And while the success is new to her, Ella Stiller says she has her parents’ full support.
"My parents were at every single show I did at Juilliard. They understand how hard it is and the joy that comes with it. I just feel lucky and really grateful for their understanding and support,” she told People.
“I look up to (my dad), my mom and my grandparents a lot. Especially in a moment like this, where I'm doing the thing I love to do,” she added.
Ella Stiller is the eldest child of Ben Stiller and his wife, Christine Taylor. The couple began dating in 1999 and tied the knot in 2000 before welcoming baby Ella in April 2002, per People.
Stiller and Taylor also share a 19-year-old son, Quinlin Dempsey, born in July 2005.
Ella Stiller opens up about what makes this project so special
In “Dilaria,” which is described as a dark comedy, Ella Stiller plays a wealthy young woman who craves the type of social media attention her classmate receives following their tragic death.
While talking to People, Ella Stiller revealed what stood out to her about the play.
"I've always only wanted to do cool, gritty plays written by women and about young women,” she said.
“My whole goal in life, as an artist and a person, is to tell young women's stories in an unfiltered way, and to be a voice for young women who often don't get a voice,” she added.
And it couldn’t have come at a better time, according to Ella Stiller.
"I was definitely in a place, the week before this all happened, where I was doing a lot of auditioning, a lot of taping and feeling a little bit down," she explains.
"This is what we do. It's a lot of rejection. And then this came along, and it really, really changed everything. I couldn't be more grateful,” she continued.
Aside from appearing in several short films, Ella Stiller has credits in the upcoming film “Driver’s Ed” and will appear in the third season of “And Just Like That…” and the upcoming release of “Happy Gilmore 2.”
She describes her rising status as an actress as “really exciting” in her interview with People.
"It's been a lot of moments where I think, '14-year-old Ella would be freaking out,’” she told the outlet.
“Anytime I get stressed or feel behind or anything, I just have to remember how proud young me 10 years ago, or even five years ago, would be," she added.

Previews of “Dilaria” began on June 13 at the DR2 Theatre in New York City. The official world premiere is scheduled for June 18.
