Shai, son of professional dance couple Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd, is getting into the holiday spirit with some silly family jokes.
Daniel Stern won’t be home alone this Christmas, but he will be staying home.
The 68-year-old actor-turned-farmer, best known for his role as Marv in the classic holiday film “Home Alone,” opened up about why you rarely see him celebrating with other co-stars come Christmastime.
"I don't leave my farm," Stern said in an interview with People, published Dec. 2. "It's no offense to the movie. I'm just ... a phone call, Zoom call, I'm in. But... I'm a bit of a homebody."
His comments come at a time when “Home Alone” is celebrating its 35th anniversary.

The movie, which tells the story of a young boy whose family accidentally leaves him home alone while on vacation when two robbers attempt to break into the house, was released on Nov. 16, 1990.
Stern’s character, Marv, was one of the robbers — along with Joe Pesci’s character, Harry — known as the “Wet Bandits.”
Despite being a homebody these days, Stern said the movie’s success isn’t lost on him. But while he always knew it was destined for greatness, he never could’ve predicted how great it turned out to be.
"I did know that it was a gem of a movie," he told People. "John Hughes wrote the funniest script I've ever read. I mean, I was rolling on the floor, laughing reading it. It was so funny.”
He went on to credit the movie for being equal parts funny, emotional and “full of heart.”
"It was so funny, it was so true and so I did know that. I was hopeful that we were making a great movie,” he added before admitting, “I had no idea obviously — no one could — of the longevity of its life."
Daniel Stern describes ‘Home Alone’ fame as ‘overwhelming’
The 1990s were kind to Stern. He held roles in “City Slickers” (1991), “Rookie of the Year” (1993) and “The Wonder Years” (1988-1993), while also appearing in the “Home Alone 2” in 1992, per IMDB.
And while he has appeared in small projects in the years since, he now prefers to live a more lowkey life.

In fact, he even described getting recognized in public as “overwhelming.”
"I love knowing that everybody loves it but, like, actual people come at me and say, 'We love it.' It's a little overwhelming sometimes," he told People.
Stern spends most of his time today as a sculptor while tending to his farm in Ventura County, California, where he and his wife Laure Mattos have cattle, horses and citrus trees.

Daniel Stern’s farm life has become a hot topic on social media, where he shares glimpses of his life outside of Hollywood on his TikTok account, which has more than 200,000 followers.
A majority of his sculptures are sold to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu, which he and his wife founded in 1999, according to his website.
"I can spend five days, simply pressing small pieces of clay to form the ruffles on a Flamenco dancer’s dress,” he writes on his website.
