Influencer Isabel Veloso Dies at 19 After Writing Heartbreaking Letter to Her Son. ‘I’ll Be Back Soon’

Ryan Brennan | January 22, 2026

Isabel Veloso is going viral for a letter she wrote to her son three months before her death.

The 19-year-old social media influencer and first-time mom, who died on Jan. 10 after a four-year battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, had been open about her cancer journey on Instagram.

She was reportedly hospitalized for 24 days before passing away in Curitiba, Brazil, per the “Daily Mail.”

In the weeks following her death, fans and followers have revisited an Oct. 12 Instagram post where Veloso penned an open letter to her baby boy, born in December 2024.

At the time, Veloso was hospitalized and separated from her son due to a bone marrow transplant.

“Hey there my love. Mum is not with you right now and I know you feel it,” she wrote in Spanish. “I know you miss my lap. And that scent you are looking for in the air is not yet there.”

“But i want to tell you something: I haven't gone away... I'm here, inside everything,” she added.

The teen mom went on to tell her baby boy that she’s “in your pillow, in your favorite toy, in the sounds the house makes when you wake up.”

“And most importantly… I’m inside the reason that made me get up again: you, my love,” she continued.

“Mommy is in a place that takes care of the body. So that I can be strong again. To carry you. To run with you in the park. To see you grow, smile, sleep peacefully,” Veloso wrote.

“And I will come back. It will take a little while, but I will come back. With the same heart, with the same scent, with the same love. With a hug that will mend everything this longing has done,” she added.

Veloso wanted her baby boy to know that she is always listening and that he was “never alone.”

“Not in the ICU, not now,” she continued. “Because Mommy’s love… remained. Completely, in every way. I love you more than any distance can measure. I promise I'll be back soon…”

Isabel Veloso was given just a few months to live in January 2024

Veloso was originally diagnosed with Hodgin’s lymphoma in 2021, according to People

She was later cleared of cancer in 2023 after undergoing chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, but the cancer returned three months later when doctors discovered a 6.6-inch tumor between her lungs.

Veloso was diagnosed with terminal cancer in January 2024, at which point she was given months to live.

Nonetheless, in August 2024, Veloso and her husband, Lucas Borbas, who have been married since April 2024, announced that they were expecting their first child together.

The couple welcomed their baby boy, Arthur, in December of that year.

By May 2025, her cancer was in partial remission and a new bone marrow transplant was scheduled and carried out successfully in October. Her father, Joelson Veloso, was the donor, per Mix Vale.

Veloso was discharged in November, but complications soon arose. She died two months later.

On Nov. 22, Borbas took to Instagram to wish his wife a “Happy anniversary” 823 days after they started dating.

“It's not just our time together — it's everything we've overcome side by side,” he wrote. “From the smiles after the struggles, to the love that didn't let go even during the transplant, to the faith that sustained our story when our strength failed.”
