“Important pregnancy milestone: he ties my shoes now.”
Jelly Roll has raised plenty of eyebrows with his face tattoos since becoming famous.
But in a new interview with “Taste of Country Nights,” published Jan. 5, the 41-year-old “Save Me” singer opened up about some of the youngest critics of his face tattoos well before his music went mainstream.
And those critics were his daughter Bailee’s kindergarten classmates.
"When she was in kindergarten it was so funny because all of her little friends would go 'What is all that stuff on your face?'” Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, told the outlet.

Instead of telling the kids the truth behind his face tattoos, Jelly Roll went with a small white lie.
"I would go 'You won't believe this, I only draw this on when I come see y'all so y'all are excited about it,'" he added.
"Finally, they were like 'how do you draw it on the same way every time?' I said 'I got the little sticker things now because I been coming so much,’” he joked.
Jelly Roll’s face tattoos have been a hot topic of conversation over the past few years.
The singer has everything from a cross and tear drops by his right eye to a rose above his left eye, the words “music man” across his hairline and a heart locket between his left ear and eye.
In a 2022 interview on “The Bobby Bones Show,” Jelly Roll revealed that he received his first face tattoos while in prison at the age of 17.
Jelly Roll may have to return to school drop-offs in the future
Jelly Roll is the proud father of a 17-year-old daughter, Bailee, and 9-year-old son, Noah.
He welcomed Bailee with his ex-girlfriend Felicia Beckwith in 2008 while he was incarcerated, according to People. He and his current wife, Bunnie XO, have since gained primary custody of Bailee.
His son Noah — whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Melisa Ann Cowell — entered the picture in 2016.

While Jelly Roll’s daughter and son are no longer involved in kindergarten drop-offs, the singer and his wife have been open about their plans to expand their family when the time is right.
The couple have tried multiple avenues, including IVF, without success.
"It is tough, but at the same time it's like, you just put it in God's hands," Jelly Roll’s wife said on her podcast in November, per People.
"If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. And if not, we can always adopt," she added. "I'm totally open to adoption too, and so is my husband."
As for Jelly Roll’s tattoos — which includes a tattoo of “Noah” above his eyebrow — the “Need a Favor” singer has voiced regret over his past decisions.
"I regret 98% of these tattoos, 97, almost all of them," he told GQ in 2024. "Like core philosophies are rooted in my life when I was 17 and now I'm 40, I'm like, 'What the f*** was I thinking?'"
He echoed those feelings in a 2023 interview with Access Hollywood.

"It's one of the few things in life I regret besides my criminal record. I got some of these when I was like 14. I had no business picking lifelong tattoos when I was 14,” he said at the time.
