John Mellencamp’s daughter is reportedly “suffering” amid her battle with stage 4 melanoma.
Teddi Mellencamp, who was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, was once given a 50-50 chance of survival. However, in early 2025 it was revealed her cancer had progressed to stage 4, before revealing in October 2025 that recent scans showed she had “no detectable cancer."
But fans are growing worried after a couple of concerning interviews by her father.
During a recent appearance on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, John Mellencamp was talking about his kids when he mentioned that he has a “daughter that’s really sick.”

“It’s not f***ing fun,” he told Rogan on the Jan. 14 episode. “She’s got cancer in the brain. She’s suffering right now.”
John Mellencamp continued to sound the alarm on Jan. 16 when he appeared on the “Today” show to promote his upcoming greatest hits tour, “Dancing Worlds,” which kicks off in July.
“Suffering,” he said of his ailing daughter. "You can't say you're cancer-free with the type of cancer she's got for three years.”
“So she has lesions in her brain, it went from her back, just a little, teeny spot on her,” he continued. “Over the last couple years it grew, and it got inside her brain and her lungs."
The “Small Town” singer went on to reveal that his daughter has both “good days” and days where she “feels like hell.”

“I've tried to talk her into moving back home,” he added. “I said, 'Move back to Indiana, bring the kids and just come back and live in Indiana,' but she won't do it.”
Teddi Mellencamp shares three kids — Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5 — with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave and is also a stepmom to his daughter Isabella from a previous relationship, per People.
Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer worsened before it improved

Teddi Mellencamp’s melanoma diagnosis came in 2022 after a routine, three-month skin check.
She had 11 melanomas removed by December of that year and six more in the two years after, per People, but things took a turn for the worse in 2025 when doctors found several tumors in her brain.
Mellencamp revealed the news on Instagram in February 2025 and later announced that her cancer had reached stage 4 after the melanoma metastasized to her brain and lungs.
On April 23, she took to Instagram to reveal that her tumors have either “shrunk or disappeared.”
“I'm going to keep a positive outlook because that's the way my doctor just spoke to me,” Mellencamp said in her video at the time.
Teddi Mellencamp gave fans a promising health update during the Oct. 2 episode of her “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast.
“Just to give a little life update to you guys, I had my immunotherapy yesterday and I did my scans and at this point there is no detectable cancer,” she revealed at the time, per TODAY.com.
