“That is terrible.”
Kailyn Lowry’s teenage son is living his life on his own terms.
The 33-year-old “16 and Pregnant” alum, who later appeared on MTV’s “Teen Mom 2,” was joined by her 15-year-old son Elliot, formerly known as Isaac, on the latest episode of her “Barely Famous” podcast.
In the episode, Elliott wished everyone a “Happy Pride Month” before revealing that he identifies as gay.

“I’m very nervous for this episode,” the teenager, whose birth and early childhood were documented on the hit MTV show, said at the beginning of the podcast.
“I’m here today to show you who I am — not who you saw on TV for 12 years of my life,” he added.
Elliott clarified that it was difficult to show viewers who he really was “when a camera is in front of you all the time” and admitted to having a hard time being comfortable with his true self.
"I want to be clear that this is for me,” he said of his podcast appearance.
"Let me have my moment. I'm really sick of people coming up with their own stories and putting things in their own words and things coming out on other people's terms about me,” he continued.
“My life is my life,” he added. “If I want to share it, I should share that on my terms.” However, he clarified that he doesn't believe everyone needs to "come out" regarding their sexuality.
“I’m doing it for me so you can do what you want,” he shared. “If you think it’s necessary to come out, do it. But if you don’t, then just be yourself. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Just be who you are.”
Lowry shares Elliott with her high school boyfriend, Jo Rivera, per The U.S. Sun.
She also shares son Lincoln, 11, with Javi Marroquin, sons Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, with Chris Lopez, and three kids— son Rio, 2, and 1-year-old twins Verse and Valley — with her fiancé Elijah Scott, per People.
The reality-star-turned-podcaster was in tears minutes into recording the June 5 episode.
“I’m not crying because I don’t want to do this,” she said at the beginning of the podcast. “I’m just crying because this shows your strength and I’m just really proud of you.”
Lowry called it a “very brave thing to do” because not everyone has the “safe space to live authentically.”

Elliott made regular appearances on “Teen Mom 2” throughout much of his early childhood.
He eventually took a step back from appearing on the series and was rarely featured on his mother’s social media for several years — but he has since emerged with his own presence on social media.
Elliott now has nearly 450,000 followers on his Instagram, which is supervised by his mom.
While his Instagram still lists his name as “Isaac Rivera,” he took to his mom’s podcast to open up about his decision to go by his middle name, Isaac, instead.
"I started going by Elliott, because at some point, I wasn't happy with my first name,” he explained. “It just doesn’t feel like me.”
Lowry said she initially thought Elliott wanted to change his name to “build a separation” between his life on “Teen Mom 2” and who he is today.
She also revealed that she found out about his desire to ditch Isaac after seeing his name listed as “Elliott” on school papers and documents.
On June 6, Lowry took to Instagram to share how proud she was of her son.
“Couldn’t be more proud to be your mom,” she wrote in the caption alongside a carousel of photos and videos of the mother-son duo attending a recent pride rally.
